Happy Trails is open for Winter Wonderland Sleigh Rides 7 days a
week during the season. Yes! You can book a ride any day of the
week, except the following winter holidays: Christmas Day, New
Year's Day, and Male Bonding Day (also known as Super Bowl Sunday).
HAPPY TRAILS OLD FASHIONED
HORSEDRAWN SLEIGHRIDES are held from December thru March in Easton, WA. For some people
this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, for others it brings back
memories of the only way there was to travel to school, to town, and
to church, and for most it becomes an annual tradition - for
families, for church groups, for company outings, birthday parties,
Christmas caroling parties, mystery events, or romantic surprises.
Any size group.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Adults - $20.00 each
Children 10 yrs old and under $10.00 each
Toddlers 2 yrs and under are free.
Reservations are necessary and you will be asked to send a $50
deposit to P.O. Box 32, Easton, WA, 98925-0032. This will hold your
date and time. Place the balance in an envelope with the name of the
person who booked the ride written on the front and turn it in when
you check in for your ride. HAPPY TRAILS provides fires, hot water,
cold water, roasting forks, and gas stoves to heat soup, chili, or
stew. There are warming tents with woodstoves for all to share, plus
4 pairs of snowshoes for free use. Trash cans provided.
WHAT TO BRING?
Bring a blanket for each 2-3 people, keep blankets in the warm
interior of your car, not in the cold trunk. Be sure your camera has
film and fresh batteries...you’ll get some great shots for wonderful
memories. Keep your food plans simple - it really isn’t a good time
for a 5-course meal. Hot dogs, marshmallows, things to make s’mores,
hot chocolate, soup, hot tea, and hot spiced cider are easy, popular
foods to bring from home. For easy transport and handling, put soup, chili, or stew in
a pot before you leave home; duct tape the lid on. When you reach
camp, remove the tape and heat on a propane stove. Don't forget a
ladle! Bring disposable cups, plates, bowls, and plastic forks and
spoons. For a variation on traditional s'mores, try Cowboy S'mores
made with a chocolate-covered graham cracker cookie instead of
chocolate bars and graham crackers. Cowboy S'mores don't crumble as
easily and kids love to make them for moms and dads! Buy a cookie
large enough to accommodate a marshmallow - "Mother's Fudge and
Graham" was voted best, but any brand will do. Bring along plastic
and inflatable snow play devices for fun in the snow during the hour
of playtime before the return half of the sleigh ride. Round
saucer-type and inflatable devices give the best and safest ride; no
wood or metal sleds please! We also have several inner tubes and
other snowplay devices donated by previous customers for all to
share. This hill has been mother-designed for
the enjoyment of all. Dress in layers with windbreaker on the
outside to be prepared for the varying weather conditions. Pack
extra clothing to keep the children dry and at least 2 pairs of
gloves. Check with us later if you lose anything. Pets are not
allowed on sleighs or at camp. For their safety and comfort, leave
them at home.
ARRIVAL TIME? It is
a good idea to arrive 15-20 minutes before your reserved time so you
can check in, pay the balance of your money, move your food and
blankets from the car to the sleigh and add that last layer of
clothing to keep you warm and dry. Remember!! Snow is wet.
